Hoyt Lakes council accepts $5,000 Chamber donation for downtown tourism improvements

The Hoyt Lakes City Council on Dec. 22 approved Resolution 2025-037 to accept a $5,000 donation from the Hoyt Lakes Chamber of Commerce to be used for tourism-related improvements.
Sher, speaking for the chamber, said the donation will be used for lighting, painting and other cosmetic improvements in the shopping-center/street area and that the chamber is pursuing a 35-foot tree and expanded seasonal programming. "We decided at our last meeting to donate $5,000 ... to the city to use as tourism," Sher said. A member of the public who spoke at the mic described plans for a Christmas market and monthly vendor days to draw visitors.
Councilors approved the resolution by voice vote. Staff said the funds will be managed by the city as the fiscal agent and used for the purposes described by the chamber.
Next steps: city staff will coordinate with the chamber on project scope and timing for lighting and seasonal events.
