Council considered Resolution 2025031 to pursue Local Road Improvement Program funding for reconstruction of West Street. Staff explained the program can provide awards "up to $1.5 million" and that the county is providing a letter of support for the application.
Jake and Dean described project estimates, contingency allowances and the application process; staff acknowledged a recent reduction in the statewide funding pool and said the program had been cut by roughly one‑third, leaving about $21 million available statewide for awards.
The council voted to approve the resolution authorizing staff to submit the grant application and directed staff to coordinate application materials with county partners. Councilors said securing outside funds would reduce the local share and help complete the West reconstruction without fully depleting city capital reserves.
