Council tables youth-hockey concessions contract, seeks inventory and clearer terms

Staff said the association removed outdated language and sought to revert to a historical revenue split the association prefers (councilors referenced 60/40, 70/30 and a request that the city receive 30 percent). Councilors repeatedly asked for an appendix or inventory that clearly lists which fixtures and equipment the city supplies and maintains (for example, refrigerator/freezer, convection oven, popcorn and slushy machines). One councilor noted that some items date to prior city ownership and recommended a consistent approach across similar facility contracts.
Councilors also identified a clerical error in the contract’s season dates (the front page lists October 25 through March 2025; councilors asked that the end date be corrected to 2026). Given the recurring questions about inventory, maintenance responsibilities and the revenue split, the council directed staff (Bucky and Dean) to work with the association to provide an appendix that lists city-owned items and to update contract language, and tabled final approval until the next meeting.
