Library Director Lambie told the Hoyt Lakes City Council on Jan. 13 that the library’s adult winter challenge is under way (runs through Feb. 27) and encouraged signups via the library or the Beanstack app. Lambie also promoted a mocktail social with live entertainment and trivia (doors open at 6:15 p.m., 18+ only), crafts events and a local history talk series titled Echoes Beyond the Pit featuring a presentation on the Eerie pre‑tac plant by Mike Sturk.
On circulation, Lambie said, "for 2025, we had 8,595 physical items checked out from the library. 13 of those were not returned," and that the replacement cost for those items was $191. Lambie noted that patrons generally return items and that the unreturned items may still be returned.
Council thanked the library director for the update; no council action was required. Staff said library revenue and expense figures will be included in the next meeting’s financials.
