Hoyt Lakes council approves reorganizational measures, posts part‑time clerk job and sets wage range

The Hoyt Lakes City Council on Jan. 13 approved its 2026 reorganizational resolution, authorized advertising for a part‑time administrative clerk, and adopted a resolution setting wage ranges for part‑time, seasonal and temporary employees.

Councilor Jarvala moved to approve Resolution 2026001, the annual reorganizational list of boards, committees, the official depository and newspaper; the motion carried. City Administrator Wyberg and staff said the resolution was substantially the same as in prior years.

The council then discussed re‑establishing a part‑time administrative clerk position to provide backup for billing, accounts payable and payroll duties. Dean, a city staff member, said the city has no redundancy if the clerk or deputy clerk are unavailable and that the position had last been filled around 2020. The council agreed to advertise the posting beginning Jan. 16 with publication in the paper Jan. 17–24 and estimated interviews in mid‑ to late‑February. The advertised pay will be listed as $20–$25 per hour depending on experience.

Council considered Resolution 2026002 to set the city’s wage schedule beginning Jan. 14, 2026. Council amended the resolution to show the part‑time administrative clerk wage as $20–$25 per hour and approved the resolution. Councilor Ecman and Mayor Scott abstained from the vote on this item because they are part‑time employees of the city, as disclosed at the meeting.

The council also unanimously approved the city’s pay equity compliance report for 2026. Wyberg said staff submitted the required numbers to the state analysis and that no findings were returned.

The council’s next meeting agenda is expected to include the finalized clubhouse agreement and any updated budget financials referenced by staff.
