Windsor Heights approves participation in Mid-Iowa narcotics task force and suburban SERT

Chief Pete Roth told the council the department plans to repurpose an existing detective position rather than create a new slot, so the move would not create additional salary costs. Officer Jax (name given in transcript as the candidate) completed the selection and training elements required to join the task force, which include a physical test, firearms training and written assessments. Roth said participation would provide specialized training in search warrants and joint operations, increase regional collaboration and potentially open grant opportunities.
The council approved the participation documents on roll call. The transcript records the approval as: Joseph Jones: yes; Michael Liby: yes; Lauren Campbell: yes; Teresa Harms: yes. Roth and staff said the investigator would remain on the Windsor Heights payroll and continue to report to the local department while assigned to the task force on a rotational basis.
