Mount Diablo Unified trustees on June 24 unanimously adopted the district’s 2026‑27 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and the proposed fiscal 2026‑27 budget following a staff presentation that summarized community engagement and budget priorities.
LCAP staff said the plan reflects goals on English and math outcomes, social‑emotional learning and educational equity and incorporates community feedback gathered via surveys and advisory groups. The presentation noted that approximately $65 million in expenditures are reflected in LCAP‑related budget lines and that the LCFF supplemental/concentration portion represents a modest share of the district’s total budget.
In debate about capital planning, the superintendent recommended pausing any immediate attempt to place a large facilities bond on the ballot and instead preparing a prioritized list of needs and returning to voters in 2028. That recommendation followed public comment from a local taxpayer representative who cautioned that voters recently rejected other tax measures and that the independent oversight committee (SEBBACH) had not yet issued a conformance finding.
Board motions to adopt the LCAP and the proposed budget passed by recorded vote. Trustees also approved a slate of routine fiscal resolutions (education protection account, temporary interfund transfer authority, designation of committed fund balances) and several labor agreements and personnel items that were part of the consent and action agendas.
What happens next: district staff said they will develop a prioritized facilities list, continue engagement with the oversight committee and return to the board with a refreshed bond timetable and materials for community review ahead of any future ballot placement.
