Paul Bogus, the city events organizer, presented tentative dates for Songs in the Park and the 2026 farmers market and distributed a vendor survey at the meeting.
"All the vendors preferred that we did it every week," Bogus said, adding most vendors want a 5:00 p.m. start (instead of 4:30) and to run the market rain or shine. He told council the survey results were encouraging and that Caitlyn Pratz handled permits and offered additional promotion.
Bogus also recapped Janesville Night Out, thanked Officer Jus for volunteer support, and said a sponsor volunteered to supply porta-potties for events. He reported musicians and at least one food truck contacted organizers about performing or vending at park events, and he raised the idea that the council or former mayors might serve hot dogs and hamburgers at future Night Out events.
Event logistics discussed included contingency plans for rain (use the picnic shelter if necessary or cancel by noon) and arrangements for porta-potties with the sponsor. Bogus said the organizers plan to continue refining details and will return to council if formal approvals or funding are required.
Why it matters: weekly markets and park concerts affect local vendors, park operations and community engagement and may require minimal city coordination on permits, sanitation and volunteer staffing.
