Mark Criscitelli of HUB International presented updated claims and utilization data and said the Trust continues to perform favorably compared with benchmark groups. He identified rising specialty pharmacy use and high‑cost claimants as drivers of trend pressure and singled out GLP‑1 drugs as a major pharmacy cost component, estimating those drugs now cost the Trust about $1 million a year.
Trustees discussed the impact of that rise on overall pharmacy spending and reserve pressure. HUB also reported that Blue Cross Blue Shield plans formulary changes that are expected to reduce future costs associated with some weight‑loss medications, though HUB did not provide a specific savings estimate at the meeting.
The presentation included a review of medical and pharmacy claims totals and specialty pharmacy utilization; trustees asked questions about trend drivers and options for plan design changes that could mitigate further increases.
