WPCA reports operations updates; Woodard & Curran to provide bidding-phase scope for Stony Brook project

Superintendent Jamie Kreller reviewed routine operational activity at the Suffield Water Pollution Control Authority's May 12 meeting, reporting equipment work and maintenance and noting the authority is currently 91 dry tons below the yearly solids-disposal allotment under the MDC agreement.
Kreller said a new variable-frequency drive (VFD) was installed for pump 1 at PS 1 (Thompsonville Road), operators completed repairs to fencing and concrete supports at PS 13 (Stony Brook Drive), and rigging and a winch were set up at the PS 1 dry well to improve emergency maintenance access for a new pump. Kreller and Anna Clark presented the WPCA budget to the Board of Finance, which included discussion of potential future review of prison and commercial sewer rates and of Lake Congamond sewer service boundaries.
Patrick Compton, Woodard & Curran representative, reported the firm had developed a proposal for construction-phase services on the Stony Brook project. The commission asked Woodard & Curran to evaluate opportunities to reduce the fee and agreed the firm would provide a bidding-phase scope of services only to help maintain the project schedule while it revises the construction-phase proposal.
The minutes record no operational issues with DEEP or EPA reporting; quarterly reports were completed successfully with no issues noted.
