Suffield WPCA proposes modest 2026–27 sewer fee increases; operating budget unchanged

Anna Clark, the authority's business administrator, told the board the operating budget shows "no change from previous WPCA monthly meeting" and read a legal notice published May 1, 2026 that outlines the proposed fee changes.
Under the proposal, the annual residential sewer fee would rise from $400 to $410. The authority set the value of one equivalent dwelling unit (EDU) at 46,000 gallons per year. The Kent Farms Community Sewage System's fee is proposed to increase from $460 to $470, and the commercial sewer user rate for each 1,000 gallons in excess of 46,000 gallons (1 EDU) would rise from $9.57 to $9.81.
No members of the public attended the hearing and the record lists "No members of the public present," so there were no public comments recorded during the session.
The hearing ended with a procedural motion: Member Frank Bauchiero moved to adjourn the public hearing at 7:16 p.m., John P. Murphy seconded the motion, and the motion "passed unanimously," according to the minutes. The minutes note that they are not official until accepted at a subsequent meeting and were signed by Anna Clark as business administrator.
The authority did not adopt the fee changes at the May 12 hearing; the notice read on May 12 served as the required public notification of the proposed 2026'27 sewer-use fee levy. Any formal adoption or further action would be recorded in subsequent WPCA minutes.
