Suffield WPCA proposes modest rate increases for FY 2026–27; capital program trimmed

At the May 11 Board of Finance meeting, Anna Clark, Business Administrator for the Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA), presented highlights of the proposed FY 2026–27 WPCA budget, including modest rate increases and adjustments to capital spending.
Clark told the board the residential annual assessment would rise from $400 to $410 and the Kent Farm assessment from $460 to $470. The commercial rate was proposed to increase from $9.57 to $9.81 per 1,000 gallons. Budgeted capital projects (RCM) were reduced to $1,487,000 and the WPCA Assessment Fund budget is $361,000. Clark noted that, at the time of presentation, the WPCA reported no outstanding debt to the town.
Jamie Kreller, WPCA Superintendent, attended the presentation. Board members did not take a formal vote on the WPCA assessment at the May 11 meeting; the presentation served as budget review and information for the board’s ongoing deliberations.
Unless the WPCA or the Board of Selectmen take additional action, these figures represent the authority’s proposed assessments for the coming fiscal year and will be considered in the town’s overall budget process.
