The Sigourney City Council approved the second reading of an amended animal-control ordinance (Title IV — Mental and Physical Health, Chapter 1) at its Feb. 19 meeting.
Councilmember Iosbaker reported the Public Safety committee updated language addressing animal nuisances and associated fees (section 4‑1‑4) and revised wording related to bodily injury and serious injury (section 4‑1‑9). The committee’s recommended changes were reviewed by the city attorney to ensure the language was properly drafted. Councilmember Conrad moved to approve the second reading; Councilmember Iosbaker seconded. The roll call in the minutes recorded Ayes from Conrad, McLaughlin, Iosbaker and Schultz and no Nays. The minutes do not show Councilmember Lentz on the roll for that recorded vote.
The second reading advances the ordinance toward final adoption subject to any remaining legislative steps required by city code (the minutes do not record a final adoption vote at this meeting).
