Blackduck council approves routine 2025 schedule, audits and special fund budgets; announces election and calendars

The Blackduck City Council approved a package of routine administrative items and provided civic notices to residents.
Resolutions approved included a 2025 meeting schedule and a reauthorization of a previously approved fire pension increase at the request of the state auditor. The council approved hiring CLA for independent auditing services under a statement of work and a master services agreement; staff confirmed that onsite liquor-store inventory auditing was included in the quoted scope.
Council also considered special operating fund budgets for cemetery, parks, golf course, water and wastewater and approved the golf-course operating budget and other departmental revenue and operating budgets while flagging water volume rates for separate discussion. During the cemetery update, staff said they are conducting a block-by-block audit of deeds and records and have found instances where grave sites were recorded as sold to two different people; staff said they will pursue record corrections and consider migrating to a better inventory/recordkeeping system.
Chair reminded residents that the next day was election day (polls 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.), reviewed Veterans Day and canvassing board dates, and noted upcoming work-session and December meeting dates. Public works provided routine updates on park repairs, lift-station maintenance and winterization.
These items were approved on majority votes with no recorded opposition for the listed resolutions and contracts; staff will return with more detail where action was deferred.
