Council approves several land-use permits, conditions variance on neighbor signatures

The council examined a front-deck proposal for Petty Shaml, noting the house sits about 16 feet from the property line while the code requires a 15-foot setback. The proposed 10-foot-deep deck would require a variance, effectively reducing the required setback to six feet. Staff said neighbor signatures are required for the variance and that those approvals should be attached to the variance paperwork before the permit could be finalized. Petty Shaml said neighbors had given verbal consent and was instructed to obtain written signatures and file them with the office. The council approved the permit contingent upon completing the variance documentation and obtaining adjacent-owner signatures.
The council also approved a permit for a new manufactured home for a property noted as meeting setbacks. Each permit was approved by motion and voice vote.
