Harford County housing official outlines $40 million in nonprofit partnerships

Richardson said the department’s work includes housing and community development programs (home-buyer assistance, community revitalization and public facility improvements), drug-control policy, children/youth and family services, disability services, transit, the Office on Aging and Volunteer Harford. “Meg Deem does a fabulous job,” Richardson said, recognizing the county coordinator who supports the department’s community work.
She told the commission that roughly $40 million of the department’s budget goes to nonprofit partners that provide direct services to residents. Richardson described the department’s role as funding, coordinating and partnering with local organizations to deliver programs rather than delivering all services directly.
The presentation was informational; commissioners asked for further details and documentation to include in the commission’s annual report and community outreach materials. No formal action was taken at the meeting.
