The Sigourney City Council voted unanimously on a series of routine and operational items at its Feb. 6 meeting, including approval of the consent agenda, personnel actions and ordinance updates.
The council approved the tentative agenda and a consent agenda that included the Jan. 15 minutes and accounts payable claims totaling $24,935.09. Council members also authorized repairs to a city-owned 2004 Malibu for $2,677.03 and decided to carry liability-only insurance on the vehicle going forward.
Two Park & Recreation resolutions were adopted: Resolution #2025-02-02 to hire 12 pool personnel for the 2025 season and Resolution #2025-02-01 establishing the 2025 pool rates; the council noted no rate increases and that "mommy and me" classes will not be offered this year. Council member McLaughlin moved both pool-related motions; roll calls were unanimous.
On public safety, the council approved the first reading of revisions to Title IV — Mental and Physical Health, Chapter 1 (Animal Control), which updated nuisance and fee language and clarified terms related to bodily and serious injury. The ordinance text was reviewed by the city attorney before the vote.
The council also approved a personnel action increasing Jessica Weber's hourly pay from $17.00 to $17.50 following completion of her probationary period. The meeting concluded with a unanimous motion to adjourn at 6:50 p.m.
Votes and roll-call outcomes recorded in meeting minutes were unanimous on all recorded motions (Ayes: Conrad, McLaughlin, Iosbaker, Lentz, Schultz and Clark; Nays: none).
