Board approves $68,000 DRIP funds for middle school office ventilation upgrade

The Thompson Board of Education voted unanimously on June 8 to use approximately $68,000 in DRIP funds, supplemented by other district funds, to upgrade the HVAC and ventilation system in the Thompson Middle School office suite.
Facilities Director William Birch reported the district's broader HVAC project is more than 90% complete and confirmed the proposed office-suite ventilation work is an eligible use of DRIP funds that aligns with state guidance. Board members said the work must be completed while school is not in session, and staff expect the upgrade can be incorporated into the ongoing HVAC work over the summer.
The motion, made by Kathleen Herbert and seconded by Daniella Caverly, passed unanimously. The board directed staff to coordinate the work with the existing HVAC project timeline.
The upgrade targets a long-standing ventilation need in the middle school office suite; funding will come from DRIP with supplemental district funds to cover the full scope.
