Hugo council approves 14-item consent agenda; schedules budget workshop and community fundraiser meeting

Hugo — At its Aug. 18 meeting the Hugo City Council approved a 14‑item consent agenda and heard several administrative announcements and calendar items.

Staff summarized the consent agenda after council approval: the claims roster and annual performance reviews for Public Works Supervisor Mike Loeffler, Public Works Director Scott Anderson, Associate Planner Max Gort and Public Works worker Matt Klein were approved. Council also approved an amended remote‑attendance policy, a gambling‑exempt permit for the Shoot for the Troops raffle (Aug. 19), the purchase of three trucks (two Ford F‑250s and one Mac plow truck), a reduction in the letter of credit for the Oneka Fields Apartments project, payment request No. 1 to Northwest Asphalt for the Beaver Ponds and 2025 street improvement projects, extension of land‑use approvals for the Hugo Estates project, and the Oneka Fields public right‑of‑way easement and maintenance agreement.

On administrative items staff reminded the council of a mid‑year budget workshop scheduled for Aug. 28 and recommended canceling the Sept. 1 meeting; council voted to cancel that meeting. The council also agreed to designate the Hugo Good Neighbor Day Food Shelf Fundraiser at Lions Park on Sept. 20 as a meeting; the fundraiser will include a cornhole tournament, a fire‑department 'stuff the truck' event, silent auctions and family activities.

What’s next: Council and staff will proceed with the budget workshop on Aug. 28; staff will publish notices and follow up on consent‑agenda implementation items as needed.
