At the June 15 meeting the Walker City Council reviewed an estimate of $56,332 from L. L. Pelling for seal coat/street maintenance that exceeded the budgeted $56,270 by $62. Council asked Clerk Connie Helms to solicit quotes from Pate Asphalt and Gee Asphalt to determine whether the work can be completed in 2026 at a lower cost.
The council approved bills for the period totaling $201,716.47 (detailed line items were provided in the agenda packet), and Finance Director Connie Helms reported May 2026 revenues of $320,007.52 and expenditures of $409,454.12; the minutes include fund-level balances and detailed vendor line items. Council did not take a final procurement action on the seal coat at this meeting and requested additional quotes and a site review as needed.
The minutes note the city will review the WWTP fencing replacement (estimated supplies $1,500) at the July meeting and will monitor street conditions raised during public comment regarding local events.
