The Villisca Community School Board unanimously adopted a budget-guarantee resolution allowing the district to levy property tax for fiscal year 2026–2027 under Iowa Code section 257.14 and authorized publication and hearings for the proposed levy and district budget.
At the Feb. 12 regular meeting, Director Williams moved and Director Mullen seconded approval of the budget-guarantee resolution; the motion passed unanimously. The board also approved a separate resolution to continue participation in the Instructional Support Program following a roll call vote, again unanimous. Superintendent Erickson had provided administrative updates including budget and staffing context before the votes.
The board authorized publishing the proposed property tax levy in the Adams County Free Press on March 12, 2026 and set the public hearing on that levy for March 26, 2026 at 5 p.m. in the Middle School Board Room. The board also authorized publishing the district’s proposed budget in the Adams County Free Press on March 26, 2026 and set the budget hearing for April 9, 2026 at 6:45 p.m. These actions were approved by motions from Director Shipley (mover) and Director Gourley (seconder) and carried unanimously.
The actions formalize the district’s procedural steps for adopting the 2026–27 tax levy and budget; no specific levy rate or dollar amounts were recorded in the minutes. The district approved the January financial report and filed it for audit earlier in the meeting.
