A council member clarified that the city is not covering the lighting cost itself: "it's not the city that is covering the cost. It's Align Energy," staff said during the discussion.
Councilors moved and seconded the pay application and approved it by voice vote. Councilors also discussed public expectations about the appearance and efficiency of the installed fixtures, noting that LED fixtures differ from traditional neon.
No additional funding action was taken beyond approval of the pay application; staff indicated future change orders will return to council when necessary.
