Jay County approves letter of intent to seek up to $500,000 in matched opioid settlement funds for recovery residence

At a June 23 special session Kimbra Reynolds of the Opioid Settlement Taskforce asked the commissioners to approve a letter of intent to apply county‑held opioid settlement funds as a 1:1 match for state dollars, up to $500,000, to be used as capital funding for a recovery residence.
Commissioner Duane Monroe, who also serves on the taskforce, said the match opportunity would be a good way to leverage additional funds. Commissioner Doug Horn moved to approve and sign the letter of intent; Commissioner Duane Monroe seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
The letter of intent commits the county to pursue the match opportunity but does not itself obligate awarded state funds; further application steps and program details will follow as the taskforce and county staff develop the project.
