Council approves SLMPD Excelsior supplemental agreement amid questions about hourly costs

Councilmember Sanschagrin had pulled the item from consent to ask about the hourly rate and what the agreement covers; Nevinski suggested raising cost and vehicle questions with the incoming SLMPD chief and to the Operating and Coordinating Committees.
Sanschagrin said the listed hourly rate looked high relative to the scope and suggested capturing more detail or seeking alternate billing arrangements next year. Mayor Labadie and other members urged raising the questions with the SLMPD Operating Committee and Coordinating Committee. After discussion the Council voted to approve the supplemental agreement as presented.
City Administrator Nevinski said staff will provide feedback to SLMPD leadership and include the request for more detailed cost breakdowns in next year’s negotiations. The minutes show the motion to approve passed without recorded opposition.
