East Rockhill board agrees to have township office water tested after residents raise PFAS concerns

At its Aug. 27 meeting the East Rockhill Township Board of Supervisors agreed to have the Township office water tested after residents raised concerns about local drinking-water quality and recent Perkasie Regional Authority (PRWA) test results.
Jennifer Wright of 400 Three Mile Run Road said she provided copies of PRWA well test results and urged that Well No. 5 be shut down, and also said she had referred residents to the Department of Environmental Protection for testing. "They removed filtration systems from dwellings recently connected to public water," Wright said.
Supervisor Jim Nietupski told the Board he had met with the PRWA manager, who provided documentation showing PFAS at about "14–18 ppt" in water delivered to PRWA customers, and said those readings are within legal limits. Nietupski also reminded the public that the Township does not have jurisdiction over PRWA operations.
After public comment the Board reached consensus for Township Manager Marianne Hart Morano to arrange testing of the Township office water supply. The Board did not take action that would direct PRWA operations; any changes to PRWA wells would be under PRWA and DEP authority, according to the discussion.
Other residents urged broader testing. Mike Derr (204 Three Mile Run Road) asked the Township to consider testing water across the Township. The Board did not vote on township-wide testing at the meeting.
The Board’s immediate next step is to have the Manager obtain the office water test results; the Township did not set a timetable for broader testing or any follow-up meeting on PRWA operations at this session.
