Two HVAC companies inspected the Chrysler Center and concluded the system was beyond repair; staff presented a low quote from Chapel Central in the $11,000–$12,000 range.
Council member Evers moved, and Council member Howard seconded, a motion "to adjust the purchase price of the Chrysler Building property to reflect 50% of the estimated cost of updating the HVAC system." After no further discussion, the motion carried on a voice vote.
Councilors emphasized they want a firm closing date from the buyer before committing to share repair costs, and staff said the agreed cost-share will be added to the purchase agreement so the city can recoup the 50% contribution at closing. No other changes to the purchase price were specified at the meeting.
