The Starmont Community School District board approved a number of financial and administrative actions at its Dec. 9 meetings, including a depository resolution, a vehicle purchase authorization and a preschool tuition rate.
The board approved a $9,500,000 depository resolution naming five financial institutions (Citizens State Bank of Strawberry Point; Farmers Savings Bank of Strawberry Point; Bank Iowa of Lamont; WC Financial of Independence; and ISJIT of Des Moines). The motion carried 5-0.
Board members approved a motion authorizing purchase of a vehicle for rural pickups with spending up to $65,000; the motion, moved by Doug Puffett and seconded by Tony Recker, carried 5-0.
The board approved a School Budget Review Committee (SBRC) application for Lied Center administrative costs for the 2025–2026 school year in the amount of $1,743.34. That motion carried 5-0.
On tuition, the board approved the 2025–2026 preschool tuition rate at $200 per month. The motion by Tony Recker, seconded by Doug Puffett, carried 4-1 with Jacob Moellers recorded as the lone nay.
Routine governance items also passed: the consent agenda (which included minutes, monthly financial reports, audited bills and personnel recommendations) was approved (motion by Vicki Althoff, seconded by Julie Uhlenkamp; carried 4-0). The board also approved the district’s financial books for 2023–2024 (motion by Jacob Moellers, seconded by Vicki Althoff; carried 4-0).
