Council approves replacement pickup for fire department after safety concerns

The department recommended purchasing a new 2026 Ford F-350 one-ton pickup fully outfitted for wildland responses and personnel transport. Seth and Josh said the outfitted truck in staff paperwork is listed at about $98,000; city staff later noted a higher projected impact to the capital equipment fund of roughly $140,000 by year-end but said the fund is expected to rebound in subsequent years.
Staff told the council the vehicle would be ordered through the capital equipment fund; delivery and outfitting would take about three months. Council approved the purchase by voice vote.
What happens next: staff will place the order and return with any contract or final purchase documentation as required by procurement policy; expected delivery was estimated at end of February to early March 2026.
