The Pennridge Regional Police Commission unanimously adopted its 2025 budget at a meeting on Aug. 28, 2024, after Chief Paul T. Dickinson presented a second draft that included modest increases tied to salary and operating costs.
Chief Dickinson said the small increases could be covered by carryover from the 2024 budget. Commissioner Jay Keyser thanked staff for providing vehicle maintenance histories and raised a specific concern about replacing a patrol vehicle that has 103,000 miles on it. Keyser said he was supportive of the budget overall but requested that any purchase of a new patrol vehicle be brought back before the commission for approval.
On a motion by Commissioner Jay Keyser, seconded by Commissioner Gary Volovnik, the commission voted in favor and adopted the 2025 budget as presented. The minutes record the vote as unanimous among those present.
The budget presentation and adoption followed brief discussion among commissioners about salary and operating cost increases, which were described as the drivers of the modest upward adjustments. Chief Dickinson asked whether a third draft was needed; there was no objection to voting to adopt the draft on the table.
The commission’s next step, as requested during the meeting, is that staff return any proposed patrol vehicle purchase to the commission for separate review and approval in 2025.
