Huxley — During department reports and work sessions on Aug. 27, city staff briefed the council on several operational items and the council gave direction for follow-up action.
Library: Library Director Cathy VanMaanen said she has an oral agreement for a remodel and expects written confirmation by the end of the week. She described proposed work such as removing stainless steel, adding sheetrock and installing another door; council expressed no objections.
Payroll timing: City Clerk/Finance Officer Barb Barrick outlined a proposal to extend the interval between timesheet submission and payroll completion. The council supported the change and directed implementation.
Elevator maintenance: Administrator David Haugland reported that staff met with an Otis representative to discuss suggested upgrades and a maintenance contract. Council asked staff to verify coverage on the recommended upgrades before returning the maintenance contract for a vote.
Credentials: Haugland said the city now has two Certified Pool Operators and proposed adding a credential incentive. Council directed staff to set the incentive at $600 and bring the item back for a formal vote.
Next steps: Staff will provide written confirmation for the library remodel agreement, implement the payroll timing change, verify Otis coverage for elevator upgrades, and return the CPO incentive for council vote.
