HUXLEY CITY — In a work-session discussion at the July 23 meeting, resident Shirley Crippen said a circulating petition seeks to reduce the number of days residents may discharge fireworks, citing effects on veterans, pet owners and litter from debris.
Crippen, identified in the meeting record as living at 485 Bella Vista Court, asked the council to consider more restrictive limits on fireworks days. Council members did not vote on an ordinance change; instead, they asked City Administrator David Haugland and City Clerk Barb Barrick to compile information from other municipalities about which days and hours are permitted for fireworks and return with recommendations.
The council took no formal regulatory action at the meeting. Staff were directed only to gather comparative data to inform possible future changes.
