Council members raised concerns that the allowance could be interpreted as subsidizing personal wardrobes, especially for City Hall staff who are not routinely in high-visibility roles; staff clarified the policy is specifically for city-branded apparel used in the course of work, public-facing events and outreach. After discussion and clarification, the council approved the updated policy.
The change was approved by motion; staff will communicate updated reimbursement processes to employees.
