TECCA Commonwealth Virtual School board unanimously ratifies collective bargaining agreement after executive session

Board Chair Peter Sanchioni called the TEC Connections Academy Commonwealth Virtual School Board of Directors to order at 9:03 a.m. ET on Aug. 21, 2025 and led a roll call that showed four members present: Peter Sanchioni, Ed DeHoratius, Sandra Einsel and Jerry Helsing.
The board approved the meeting agenda on a motion made by Peter Sanchioni, moved by Jerry Helsing and seconded by Ed DeHoratius; the motion was approved unanimously. No members of the public offered comments during the public comment period.
Dr. Sanchioni then moved that the board enter executive session pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws c. 30A, § 21(a)(3) to discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the public body's bargaining or litigating position. The board voted by roll call to enter executive session at 9:04 a.m.; Ed DeHoratius, Jerry Helsing, Sandra Einsel and Peter Sanchioni each recorded “yes.” At the chair's request, Patrick Lattuca, Cathleen Ellis and Kayla Guilbert joined the executive session.
The board returned to open session at 9:25 a.m. by roll call (DeHoratius, Helsing, Einsel, Sanchioni voted yes). Immediately following the return to open session, Chair Peter Sanchioni moved to accept the Collective Bargaining Agreement between TECCA and the TECCA Union. The motion was adopted by roll call vote of the four members present and was approved unanimously.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn, which the board approved; the session ended at 9:27 a.m. The board confirmed its next meeting for Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.
Votes and formal actions recorded during the meeting included approval of the agenda (unanimous), a roll call to enter executive session under M.G.L. c. 30A, § 21(a)(3) (yes votes by DeHoratius, Helsing, Einsel, Sanchioni), unanimous ratification of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the TECCA Union, and approval of adjournment (unanimous).
