First Selectman Robert Brule and two fellow selectmen approved three commission appointments at the Board of Selectmen’s Jan. 20 meeting in Waterford Town Hall.
Gina Rubin was appointed to the Economic Development Commission to fill a vacancy for the term listed on the agenda as Sept. 1, 2026–Aug. 31, 2030. The motion to appoint Rubin was made by Selectman Rich Muckle and seconded by Selectman Greg Attanasio and passed unanimously, 3-0.
The board also appointed Anne Darling (R) to two positions. The board amended the Shellfish Commission appointment to correct the term dates to the remainder of Jan. 6, 2025–Jan. 2, 2029 so the slot aligns with the commission’s ordinance schedule; the amended appointment passed 3-0. Darling was separately appointed to the Flood and Erosion Control Board to fill a vacant term listed as March 1, 2025–Feb. 28, 2030; that motion also passed 3-0.
Why it matters: these appointments fill multiple vacancies on boards that advise town government on economic development, shellfishing regulation and shoreline protection. Correcting the Shellfish Commission term dates ensures the new appointee’s term conforms to the ordinance’s staggered schedule.
The board took each vote on motion and second; all appointment motions were recorded as passing 3-0. No additional conditions or contingencies were recorded in the meeting minutes.
