Pinellas board honors Chair Caprice Edmond for leadership in statewide consortium

The Pinellas County School Board used a portion of its June 23 meeting to recognize Chair Caprice Edmond for her service as outgoing president of the Greater Florida Consortium of School Boards.
Tabitha Feazell, representing the consortium, said under Edmond’s leadership the organization expanded membership to 12 districts, established a federal advocacy program, and formed an emergency management task force and a technology and AI subcommittee. "Under Chair Edmonds' leadership, we not only expanded the consortium... but again also established our first ever federal advocacy program as well as establishing an emergency management task force and a technology and AI subcommittee," Feazell said.
A consortium representative reported that the group now represents about 53% of students in the state and credited the consortium with coordinated advocacy that helped remove public schools from a proposed tax referendum amendment during a recent special legislative session. The board presented a recognition award and applauded Edmond’s work.
The recognition was ceremonial; no board action was required or taken.
