The Danvers Select Board approved a Secondhand Dealer’s License for Fashion Jewelry and Repair, operated by Meryem Wingate at Unit 125, Liberty Tree Mall, following a public hearing on Jan. 20.
Wingate told the board she intends to purchase secondhand goods for resale and described procedures she will use to meet Town Bylaws, Chapter X, “Sale of Junk and Secondhand Articles.” She said her shop requires proof of age (18 or older) for sellers and that computerized records will be kept with the date and time of purchases or sales and identifying information such as name, birth date and license details. The Town Clerk confirmed the application had approval from the Department of Public Development (DPD) and that paperwork was in order.
Select Board member Daniel C. Bennett moved to approve the application; Gardner S. Trask III seconded the motion and the board voted 4-0 in favor.
Next steps: the license was approved as recorded in the minutes; the applicant may proceed under the terms of the license and applicable town bylaws.
