Danvers Rail Trail: Mother’s Day walk set for May 9; Cycling Without Age seeks tri-shaw storage and bench donation proposed
Summary
RTAC shifted the annual walk from Valentine’s Day to Mother’s Day (May 9), invited Cycling Without Age to a March meeting to discuss using the trail and possible tri-shaw storage, and recorded a family’s offer to donate a bench in memory of Albert Fiantaca (placement subject to site constraints).

RTAC members agreed to move the group’s annual walk from Valentine’s Day to Mother’s Day on May 9; Paul McNulty and Mark Jones will update the RTAC website with the new date.
Representatives of Cycling Without Age expressed interest in bringing their tri-shaw program to the Danvers Rail Trail and requested to meet with RTAC in March to review details. Meeting notes include program background from Cycling Without Age and describe a tri-shaw as pedal-powered, typically carrying two passengers and measuring about 42 inches wide. Tyler Berry will check with the Town about whether a tri-shaw could be stored in the trail shed.
The family of longtime trail user Albert Fiantaca asked that donations be made to the Danvers Rail Trail in lieu of flowers and requested that donations be used to place a bench in his name along the trail. The family will research potential bench locations and notify RTAC; Paul McNulty reminded the family that placement requests may be constrained by distance to other benches, overhead utilities and trail landscape.
An introductory meeting with Maple Square Apartments to discuss trail access and introduction was deferred because facility staff are extremely busy; RTAC plans to try again in spring or summer.
What happens next: Cycling Without Age representatives are invited to the next meeting to present the program and storage options; the Fiantaca family will submit bench placement proposals for RTAC and Town review.
