Oronoco council approves equipment purchases, roof repair, park upgrades and routine permits

Storage for the unit was discussed and staff said the Orono Park garage might offer space.
Roof repair: After a League of Minnesota Cities adjuster advised the city to seek bids for hail damage, staff recommended the low AllCraft bid of $23,400 to replace roof shingles at city hall and an added $1,825 to remove the cupola. The council approved the $25,225 package and agreed funding will come from the community center repair-and-maintenance account.
Sewer project pay request: Council approved a stop‑construction pay request for an existing sewer project; staff said a remaining final payment of roughly $20,000 is expected at the August meeting, with contract closeout anticipated this fall after punch‑list and restoration work.
Public safety and economic development: The council approved a budgeted purchase of turnout gear (fund 20005) and approved a standard cost-reimbursement/security agreement for the Looney Lodge/TLS site east of Casey’s; staff confirmed a building permit and site plans have been submitted and are under review.
Parks and recreation: Council approved a Durst quote to sealcoat and restripe the City Hall court to add three pickleball courts and refresh basketball lines; parks staff said money is available in the parks budget and Durst may perform sealcoating work citywide, weather permitting.
Licenses and consent items: The council approved a liquor license transfer for the Gas & Go site under new ownership and approved the consent agenda. Financial staff noted the municipal water GO bond from 2013 is nearing its final payment.
