TECCA reports 2,980 students, asks DESE to increase cap and to approve rebrand to MassCA

Superintendent Dr. Patrick Lattuca told the TECCA Commonwealth Virtual School Board on Dec. 4 that enrollment stands at 2,980 students and that he has submitted an enrollment cap increase request for 300 students to DESE.
Dr. Lattuca said he met with DESE to propose updating TECCA’s Enrollment Policy to limit preference slots from 14 to 4 and to add enrollment windows. He also told the board he has "submitted a request with DESE for a name change for July 1, 2026 from TECCA to MassCA," and that the request letter will be included in the January board packet.
The board packet shows TECCA has selected Boston-based agency Zozimus to assist with the name-change and rebranding work. Dr. Lattuca said TECCA issued an RFQ for move-management services and selected STV Inc. to decommission the existing Walpole office and assist in setting up the new district office; TECCA and STV will meet in early January to walk the spaces and begin work.
Assistant Superintendent Heidi Nelson-Buffa reported a correction is needed in the FY25 MCAS presentation; an updated MCAS presentation will be given at the January board meeting. Nelson-Buffa also noted program updates, including an Innovative Pathways application process and internship opportunities for students.
