Huxley Council approves consent agenda, two resolutions and an amendment to fireworks rules (4-1)

Huxley City Council voted on multiple routine and policy items during its Sept. 10 meeting at City Hall.

Mayor Dave Kuhn presided as the council approved the consent agenda, which included the Aug. 27 meeting minutes, payment of bills, Resolution No. 24-065 (Payment Application No. 34 for the Water Treatment Plant expansion) and the appointment of Carissa Lewis to the Zoning Board of Adjustment. The consent motion was made by Council Member Roberts and seconded by Council Member Mulder and passed unanimously.

On separate motions the council approved Resolution No. 24-066, providing a credential incentive for a certified pool operator under the City of Huxley compensation plan (motion by Council Member Rigler; second by Council Member Roberts), and Resolution No. 24-067, authorizing the city clerk to certify costs to the county treasurer to be collected with property taxes (motion by Council Member Echer; second by Council Member Mulder). Both motions passed on recorded votes with unanimous support.

The council also adopted Ordinance No. 538 amending the city code provisions regarding fireworks use. The ordinance passed on the recorded vote (Ayes: Rigler, Roberts, Mulder, Echer; Nays: Murphy). An attempt by Council Member Echer to waive the rules and proceed with immediate second and third readings of the ordinance failed for lack of a second.

Financial documents presented with the consent agenda show total claims for the period of $412,733.27 and payroll expenses of $80,838.41.
