Lamont council approves temporary public works hires and appoints new public works director

The Lamont City Council on Jan. 9 approved two personnel measures, hiring two temporary public works employees and appointing a new public works director, during a special meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Mayor Mary Ann Dozark.
Councilmember Devlin moved to approve the meeting agenda; Councilmember Behrens seconded and the motion carried with all ayes. The council then approved hiring Lance Fleming and Tony Fleming as temporary/as-needed public works employees with duties to include snow removal and other city duties mutually agreed upon until a new Public Works Director is hired. That motion, made by Devlin and seconded by Behrens, passed with ayes recorded for Lincoln, Slack, Behrens and Devlin and was adopted as Resolution 23-02.
The council interviewed candidates for the Public Works Director position during the meeting. Following those interviews, Councilmember Slack moved and Councilmember Lincoln seconded a motion to hire Applicant #2 as Public Works Director and to hire Applicant #4 as a part-time, as-needed public works employee. The motion passed unanimously and was adopted as Resolution 23-03.
