Inwood council orders flashing traffic light, hears park shade plans and approves bills

The Inwood City Council approved its consent agenda and list of bills at the Jan. 20 regular meeting and moved forward on several public-works items affecting traffic safety and park amenities.
Jamie Van Beek presented the monthly maintenance report and said the city will order and install a red flashing light on the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 182 and 240th Street to improve intersection safety. Van Beek also reported the city had ordered a new broom for the skid loader used for street and facility maintenance.
Kenny Scholten, representing the Inwood Community Club, presented two plans to add shade to the picnic table area at the shelter house in the park and said the club has $50,000–$60,000 in donated funds committed to the project. Scholten told the council he will continue researching options and return with recommendations.
Councilmember Chad Evans moved, and Rick Rozeboom seconded, to approve the consent agenda, which included the December 19 minutes and the Treasurer's report, and to pay the listed bills. The motion carried 5-0. The bills list included routine vendor invoices such as Herm's Sanitation ($7,103.00) and Lyon Rural Water ($6,043.50). The full bills list was part of the approved consent agenda.
The council did not set a public deadline for the park project; Scholten will report back with more detail on design options and any additional funding or city support the plans may require.
