Lake City — The Lake City Council on Feb. 17 approved several resolutions covering seasonal staffing, real‑property bids and a property tax abatement, and authorized a tree‑removal contract that city counsel later ordered rebid.
Resolution 2025‑3: The council approved a resolution to set pool wages and authorize hiring lifeguards and an instructor. Councilperson Wilson moved to approve; Daniel seconded. Roll call vote recorded Vogt, Gorden, Bruns, Daniel and Wilson as voting aye.
Resolution 2025‑5: Council opened and read sealed bids for three city parcels and set a public hearing for March 17, 2025, to consider accepting bids and entering development agreements. Mayor Mike Schleisman announced three bids: $10 from Jessica Daniel for 316 N. Woodlawn and $10 from Jessica Daniel for 620 N. Illinois, and $10 from Kelly Property Management for 408 W. Madison. Council approved the resolution to open bids and schedule the hearing.
Resolution 2025‑6 (tree removal): Council awarded a tree‑removal contract to Gorden Tree Services on a motion by Wilson, seconded by Daniel. The roll call showed Gorden abstaining; other members voted aye. City Attorney Lauver later advised that a technicality requires the city to rebid the work, and the council agreed the item will be reissued for bids and reconsidered at a future meeting.
Resolution 2025‑8 (Kelly tax abatement): Council approved a tax abatement for Kelly that abates the first $75,000 of assessed value for five years. The motion passed on a roll call vote with Vogt recording the lone no vote.
The council approved these items during the regular meeting; specific dollar amounts for pool wages were not recorded in the minutes. The sealed‑bid notices will return to the council record for formal consideration at the March 17 public hearing.
