The Lake City Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2025‑1 on Jan. 20 to appoint the Calhoun County Phoenix as the city’s official newspaper. Councilperson Bruns moved to adopt the resolution; Councilperson Gorden seconded, and a roll call recorded ayes from all five members.
Later in the meeting, by motion of Councilperson Bruns and seconded by Councilperson Vogt, the council entered a closed session at 7:00 p.m. pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5 to evaluate the professional competency of an individual when the individual requests a closed session. Council returned to open session at 7:49 p.m. by motion of Councilperson Daniel, seconded by Councilperson Bruns; the roll calls to enter and exit the closed session recorded ayes from Vogt, Gorden, Bruns, Daniel and Wilson. No public action resulting from the closed session was recorded in the minutes.
With no further business the council adjourned at 7:49 p.m.; Councilperson Bruns moved to adjourn and Councilperson Wilson seconded.
