Lamont City Council appoints temporary water operator, adopts Resolution 23-01; schedules Public Works Director interviews

The Lamont City Council at a special meeting on Jan. 6 approved a temporary appointment to oversee daily water testing and scheduled interviews for the vacant Public Works Director post.

Councilmember Behrens moved, and Councilmember Lamphier seconded, to approve Chris Even as Water/Wastewater Affidavit Operator at $475.00 per month and $35.00 per day to perform the daily water testing until a new Public Works Director is hired and certified. The motion passed with ayes recorded as Lincoln, Slack, Devlin, Lamphier and Behrens and was entered as Resolution 23-01.

The appointment delegates the city’s daily water-testing responsibilities to Even under the stated monthly and per‑day compensation rates until the city’s permanent Public Works Director is hired and achieves required certification. The resolution number was recorded in the meeting minutes as Resolution 23-01.

Separately, Councilmember Devlin moved and Councilmember Lincoln seconded a directive for the City Clerk to contact candidates and schedule interviews for Monday, Jan. 9 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The agenda item notes that interview questions and wages and benefits were finalized during the meeting.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mary Ann Dozark at 5:31 p.m.; Lamphier arrived at 5:33 p.m. A motion by Councilmember Devlin, seconded by Councilmember Slack, approved the agenda at the start of the meeting. Councilmember Slack moved and Councilmember Devlin moved to adjourn at the end of the session; the adjournment motion carried unanimously and the meeting ended at 6:50 p.m.
