Ireton council schedules March 24 public hearing on proposed property tax levy

The Ireton City Council on Feb. 17 set a public hearing for March 24 on a proposed property tax levy after Clerk Laurie Lockhorst explained the levy proposal to the council.
The council moved to change its next regular meeting to March 24 to accommodate the hearing; the motion by Council member Gradert, seconded by Mueller, passed 4-0 with Council member Eisma absent.
Lockhorst read a breakdown of revenues by fund totaling $45,213.48, including $8,455.05 in the Water Fund and $9,125.09 in the Sewer Fund. The hearing will allow residents to comment on the proposed levy before council consideration.
The council also scheduled second readings for two rate-related ordinances at the March 24 meeting.
