Scotland voters on June 9 approved budgets for the Scotland Elementary School and General Government and authorized a levy for Regional School District 11 based on the October 1, 2025 grand list.
The motion to adopt the Scotland Elementary School/Board of Education budget — tied to a grand list value of $156,004,320 (motor vehicle grand list $15,098,710) — was made by Rob Brautigam and seconded by Claire D’Appollonio and passed 52-YES, 3-NO. Voters later approved the General Government budget on the same grand list figures; Treasurer David Zito presented revenue estimates and an estimated mil rate of 32.54, a 1.11 increase over the prior year. The motion to adopt the General Government budget, moved by Wendy Sears and seconded by Cassidy Martin, passed 57-YES, 2-NO.
The meeting also approved a separate levy for Regional School District 11. Scott Sears moved the motion; it passed 50-YES, 5-NO. For all levies and budgets, the town noted that real estate and personal property taxes are due in two installments (July 1 and January 1) and motor vehicle bills are due July 1 with supplemental motor vehicle bills due January 1.
Treasurer David Zito presented the fiscal figures and the mil-rate estimate during a PowerPoint presentation; the presentation provided the basis for the voters’ decisions but did not include formal amendment language during the meeting.
The budget approvals will allow the town and school district to proceed with planned spending in fiscal year 2026–2027. The meeting record does not specify an exact effective date for any tax bills beyond the due dates stated at the meeting.
