Council hears bike‑share plan, approves July events and routine invoices

Osakis councilors on June 1 reviewed a bike-share proposal and approved multiple community events and routine invoices.
Jason Brown reported that banners had been reordered at no additional cost and listed donations to cover remainder of banner costs. The council then reviewed a bike-share mockup: initial setup costs are covered by grants and the city would be responsible for ongoing maintenance. A donor offered $1,000 toward a maintenance fund; staff estimated routine maintenance costs in the low hundreds per year.
"Maintenance on the bikes is minimal. Maybe a couple hundred dollars a year," a council member said when describing volunteer and city maintenance expectations.
Council approved park board minutes for May 27, 2025 and authorized payment to WS Design for $834.75. The council also approved Oldtown's special event request for July 12, 2025 (Main Street closure contingent on approvals and insurance) and adopted Resolution 2025‑15 to declare the car show a community festival event.
Staff reminded councilors of festival dates June 19–22 and encouraged attendance for the parade, ribbon cutting and other events.
