Following that motion, the council approved an amendment to a prior hiring decision and moved part‑time officer David (transcript: David Dderman/Dman) to step three to reflect documented experience.
Council also discussed a restricted law‑enforcement grant that covers roughly $50,000 toward a replacement squad vehicle but requires a 25% local match. The council voted to approve purchase of the vehicle at the bid amount of $51,880 and authorized upfitting costs of up to $15,000; staff noted proceeds from sale/auction of the old vehicle would return to capital funds to offset costs.
Each motion passed by voice vote in the May 12 meeting. Council members said they would follow up with staff on exact payroll accounting and funding sources for the match and on the timing for outfitting and vehicle delivery.
