The City of Shawnee reported June 22 that Phase 1 of the Midland renovation — from Shawnee Mission Parkway to Lawrence Road — has been completed and that Phase 2, covering Lawrence Road to Aug Road, is now underway. Doug Donahue, the city’s communications director, said Public Works Director Kevin Manning provided the update.
City staff said Phase 2 is the longest portion of the project and is expected to continue "from now until mid-September, weather permitting." Donahue also summarized forthcoming phases: Phase 3 will cover Aug Road to just west of Elmridge, and Phase 4 will complete the small final section of Midland. The meeting summary did not include project cost figures or contractor names.
The timeline indicates the city is staging the work to minimize disruption while advancing the corridor reconstruction; for schedule specifics and project documents Donahue directed listeners to the city’s agenda and archives at cityofshawnee.org.
